Hartshead Resources beats the drum for geotechnical survey work ahead of Anning and Somerville expedition

Hartshead expects to award the geotechnical contract late next month, after which it will complete its offshore operations between July and September, alongside the geophysical survey.

Hartshead Resources NL (ASX:HHR) is inviting companies to tender to conduct a geotechnical survey over its Anning and Somerville gas fields in the UK Southern Gas Basin.

The European energy company’s preferred contractor will complete borehole drilling, in-situ geotechnical and laboratory testing on seabed samples taken from platform and rig locations at the Anning and Somerville fields.

Results of the geotechnical survey will be combined with a concurrent geophysical survey so that Hartshead can better understand the seabed and pipeline route conditions at the gas fields.

Hartshead expects to award the geotechnical contract late next month, after which it will complete its offshore operations between July and September, alongside the geophysical survey.

Survey says

Hartshead’s geotechnical survey is designed to help it interpret the seabed’s geomechanical and engineering conditions at the Anning and Somerville fields.

The survey involves three main steps:

  • Drilling 50-metre and 30-metre boreholes at each of the proposed Anning and Somerville field jack-up rig drilling locations;
  • Insitu seabed testing, using Piezo-Cone Penetration Testing (PCPT), to help characterise the fields’ geomechanical and geoenvironmental seabed; and
  • Onshore and offshore laboratory testing of seabed samples taken during the borehole drilling operations.

HHR hopes to receive tenders for its geotechnical survey by mid-June and soon after engage a contractor to carry out the work program.

About Hartshead

Hartshead’s goal is to secure and invest in projects where resources can be extracted and delivered to meet Europe’s growing energy demand while supporting the transition to a low carbon future.

In progressing this strategy, the company is focused on its 100% owned Production Seaward Licence P2607, comprising five blocks that contain four existing gas fields in the UK Southern Gas Basin.

Anning and Sommerville contingent gas resources.
