AuKing Mining sets drills turning at Koongie Park Copper-Zinc Project targeting geophysical anomlies

AuKing is drill-testing six areas with DHEM conductors, geophysical anomalies, or known mineralisation, looking to delineate new deposits on the flagship Koongie Park Project.

AuKing Mining Ltd (ASX:AKN) has kicked off a drilling program at Koongie Park in Western Australia, targeting prospective anomalies discovered in down-hole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveying at the flagship copper-zinc project.

The company is specifically targeting conductive sources 'offset' from known mineralisation in the areas of the Onedin and Sandiego prospects identified in DHEM surveys earlier this year.

The targeted areas of drilling are:

  • Onedin DHEM extension;
  • Sandiego DHEM extension;
  • Onedin South geophysical anomalies;
  • Sandiego 700-metre water bore target zone;
  • Emull; and
  • Magnetic anomaly identified in 2021 on E80/4960.

The company estimates the program will involve some 7,500 metres of drilling conducted over 6-8 weeks for total expenditure of $1.5 million.

Preliminary portable x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (pXRF) results from reverse circulation (RC) drilling and ongoing assay results will be reported as they become available.

Proposed drilling targets

AuKing will drill-test strong conductive sources near known mineralisation at Onedin, as well as shallow mineralisation and a geophysical anomaly 500 metres to the south of the main Onedin resource.

At Sandiego, the company will target another strong conductive body discovered in DHEM surveying to the northeast of the main deposit, and a prospective area 700 metres to the north, identified during the drilling of a water bore and well beyond known mineralised zones at Koongie.

The last two targets involve shallow mineralisation at Emull, identified in drilling by a previous owner of the tenure, and a geophysical anomaly on exploration licence E80/4960, discovered in 2021.
