Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM) has launched an ambitious drill campaign at its Wallbrook Gold Project, 140 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie in WA, and the results so far are promising.
The company has mobilised three reverse circulation (RC) drill rigs and two diamond drill rigs to the area to evaluate gold prospectivity across Nexus’ extensive 250-square-kilometre tenement package.
This strategy is producing some highly encouraging early results with a new highlight at Branches prospect of 5 metres at 17.91 g/t gold within 8 metres at 11.37 g/t from 118 metres.

Managing director Andy Tudor said: “While still early in the evolution of the Wallbrook Gold Project, the scale of metal endowment of this large mineralised system is extremely encouraging.
“To have received such high-grade gold results from this early-stage regional drilling, in both near-surface drilling and at a depth of over 200 metres vertically, leads Nexus to believe that we may be sitting on a significant gold camp.
“Our aggressive exploration strategy continues to reap rewards and on receipt of these stunning results from Branches prospect, and a follow-up RC drill program has already commenced.”
Prospects along open mineralised corridor
Initial regional drilling has concentrated on the Branches and Solomon prospects. Solomon lies 800 metres north of Templar with Branches a further 2 kilometres north.
These prospects sit on a mineralised corridor, 5 kilometres in length and some 300 metres wide, which remains open at depth and to the north, where Nexus’ tenure continues along strike for a further 5 kilometres to beyond the Gap prospect.
Prospects yield high-grade gold
As well as the 5-metres at 17.91 g/t, the Branches prospect also delivered:
- 5 metres at 5.45 g/t gold and 3 metres at 6.07 g/t within 36 metres at 2.04 g/t from 43 metres; and
- 6 metres at 3.95 g/t within 31 metres at 1.31 g/t from 113 metres.
A 4,000-metre follow-up RC drill program is now underway at Branches.
Meanwhile, drilling at Solomon prospect has intersected ‘the Right Rocks’, with significant results including:
- 10 metres at 3.40 g/t gold within 22 metres at 1.88 g/t from 123 metres;
- 3 metres at 4.69 g/t within 26 metres at 1.06 g/t from 258 metres; and
- 3 metres at 1.79 g/t within 6 metres at 1.06 g/t from 34 metres.
New Clement prospect promising
The newly named Clement prospect, which sits in a parallel mineralised corridor 500 metres to the east of the Crusader-Templar prospect, is delivering results.
A seven-hole 1,104-metre RC drill program was recently completed at Clement and encouragingly sheared and hematite-altered mineralised quartz porphyry units were intersected, with results from three holes received to date. The results from the other four holes are pending.
The results include:
- 4 metres at 3.73 g/t gold within 10 metres at 1.70 g/t from 151 metres; and
- 2 metres at 5.57 g/t within 10 metres at 1.29 g/t from 71 metres.
A regional gravity survey has been completed, with processing underway. The multiple mineralised corridors and prospects demonstrate potential for an emerging gold camp.
