NA Proactive news snapshot: BioSig Technologies, Biocept, Water Tower Research, Starton Therapeutics, Tracesafe UPDATE...

A glance at some of the day's highlights from the Proactive Investors US and Canada newswires

BioSig Technologies Inc drew an ‘Outperform’ rating from Noble Capital, which noted that "stronger commercialization efforts” are underway for the company’s PURE (Precise Uninterrupted Real-time evaluation of Electrograms) EP systems after the first quarter. In a note to clients, Noble Capital analysts observed that BioSig recorded no PURE EP unit sales during the quarter, which was “below our expectations of three units”. However, they felt that BioSig still made great strides on multiple fronts as it accelerates commercial momentum for developing a national-installed base of its PURE EP systems. “The company received strong signals from facilities, but contracts were not signed by the end of the quarter. We expect agreements in the second quarter,” said analysts. “Total expenses, reduced by overhead reduction, ran higher than our expected levels as the company added back staff as part of its commercial buildout and official June 1 rollout,” they added.

Biocept Inc posted first-quarter results that saw its revenue jump 12% year-over-year on the back of its RT-PCR coronavirus (COVID-19) testing services. During the quarter, Biocept said it earned $18.6 million in RT-PCR COVID-19 test revenue, $1.3 million in oncology test revenue, $38,000 in development services test revenue and nothing for distributed products, Target Selector RUO kits and CEE-Sure blood collection tubes. The company had collected $16.8 million in RT-PCR COVID-19 test revenue and $2.5 million in oncology test revenue in 1Q 2021. Biocept accessioned 153,056 commercial samples during the quarter, compared with 141,340 commercial samples during the comparable quarter a year earlier.
