Bitcoin and Ethereum advance as they hover around key support levels

Much of the crypto world began the week in the green, with 95 of the leading 100 coins changing hands in positive territory

Bitcoin and Ethereum jumped slightly above key support levels as the crypto market continued to plateau on low consumer confidence.

The leading digital currencies advanced 3.8% and 4.0% to US$30,530 and US$2,053 but remained close to the levels of the past few weeks.

Edul Patel, Mudrex chief executive and co-founder, said: "Bitcoin, Ethereum, and most cryptocurrencies rose over the weekend.

“If BTC can break its initial resistance level at US$31,000 and US$32,000 this week, we may see an upward trend."

The lack of price movement over the last weeks indicated the crypto bears have offloaded their risky assets, while those still holding the coins have faith the market will soon be rejuvenated.

Much of the crypto world began the week in the green, with 95 of the leading 100 coins changing hands in positive territory.

Avalanche and Uniswap grabbed the risers' headlines on Monday, having climbed 7.2% and 8.5% respectively.

Further down the pecking order, Fantom and eCash rocketed 15% and 17% as they tried to break into the top 50.

Terra, meanwhile, surged 19% as its founder announced plans to revive the broken blockchain in a recent blog post.

The standout faller was Kyber Network Crystal v2, which eased 4.4% lower to give up some of the gains the altcoin made last week.
