Shanta Gold reports further exceptionally high gold grades from drilling at its West Kenya project

One drill hole at the Bushiangala deposit intercepted 1.5m at 1.54g/t gold, including 13.8m at 46.69g/t and 0.5m at 1,015.30g/t

Shanta Gold Ltd reported further exceptionally high gold grades from drilling at its West Kenya project.

Visible gold was identified in three intersections from five holes drilled in the first quarter at the Isulu and Bushiangala deposits.

One drill hole at Bushiangala intercepted 1.5 metres (m) at 1.54 grammes a tonne (g/t) gold, including 13.8m at 46.69g/t and 0.5m at 1,015.30g/t.

Other highlights included: 1.6m at 11.71g/t gold, including 0.5m at 35.91g/t, at Isulu and 6.0m at 8.56g/t at Bushiangala.

"The latest phase of drilling at West Kenya has continued to deliver outstanding results, ensuring that this remains the most consistently high-grade drilling programme we've ever conducted at any asset in Shanta's history,” said chief executive Eric Zurrin.

“With visible gold at three of the five holes reported today, and one showcasing grades of 46.7 g/t across a width of 14 metres at less than 150 metres vertical depth, these results are indicative of the vast potential with spectacular grades that West Kenya offers in the Shanta Gold growth story.”

The Phase 2 drilling programme aimed to convert resources from inferred to a more certain indicated level at Isulu and Bushiangala, while drilling has also now expanded to district targets at Ramula and adjacent anomalies.

“The programme is at the second phase that targets all the zones to approximately 550 metres below surface and we expect to further increase the indicated resources in 2022 across the West Kenya project while expanding the total mineral resource size,” said Zurrin.

Shanta has completed 51% of total planned drilling at West Kenya as at end-April.
