Yandal Resources Ltd (ASX:YRL) has made sweeping progress across its Western Australian projects, testing a range of targets with a drilling program at the Gordons Project and completing a cultural heritage survey over the Ironstone Well and Barwidgee Project that has cleared the way for drilling.
Drilling at the Malone, Alderman and Andrews prospects of Gordons Project was completed over two diamond holes (541.2 metres) and 13 reverse circulation (RC) holes (1,963 metres) to investigate targets including the Malone 'Kink Zone' which previously returned results of 5 metres at 7.7 g/t gold from 210 metres.
At Zoehrer prospect – strategically located between the Gordon-Sirdar Mine and Yandal’s Star of Gordon prospect – RC drilling returned broad intercepts including:
- 28 metres at 1.3 g/t gold from 176 metres including 4 metres at 3.6 g/t; and
- 16 metres at 0.9 g/t from 132 metres including 4 metres at 3.0 g/t.
Results from 16 RC holes at Star of Gordon prospect included:
- 5 metres at 1.4 g/t gold from 67 metres including 1-metre at 6.8 g/t; and
- 14 metres at 0.4 g/t from 33 metres including 2 metres at 2.2 g/t.
First-pass aircore drilling along the prospective Alderman contact returned 8 metres at 1.7 g/t gold from 52 metres, with an intersection of 4 metres at 2.6 g/t.
Potential to host high-grade discovery
“Yandal confirmed earlier this year that the Malone prospect has the potential to host a significant high-grade gold discovery very close to operating mines and infrastructure and a short distance from the town of Kalgoorlie-Boulder,” managing director Tim Kennedy said.
“The recently completed diamond and RC drilling programs were the next step in understanding the controls of mineralisation and potential extent of the system. We look forward to receiving the results of these programs over the next couple of months.
“We were very encouraged by recent aircore results that highlighted an emerging new mineralised position at the Meuleman prospect along the prospective Alderman felsic-mafic contact.
“The geological team took the initiative and undertook a quick initial test of this position using the RC rig that happened to be onsite at the time that the results were received.
“Further to the north in our Yandal Belt tenements it was good to complete the cultural heritage survey which will enable drill testing of some the highest ranked targets in our extensive portfolio.”
Cultural heritage surveys for the Ironstone Well and Barwidgee Project was completed by representatives of the Kultju Native Title holders.
Preparations are now underway to begin aircore and RC drill testing of key prospects covered by the survey, including Sim’s Find, Flinders Park and Newport.
Next steps
Yandal Resources intends to complete the following activities this quarter:
- Finalise aircore and RC programs to testing priority targets at Ironstone Well and Barwidgee including Sims Find to Copan, New England Granite, Newport, Flushing Meadows, Flinders Park, Quarter Moon and Oblique. Begin drilling pending receipt of heritage approvals;
- Receive and interpret pending aircore, RC and diamond drilling results from Malone, Zoehrer and Meuleman prospects at the Gordons Project and plan follow-up drilling; and
- Review historic and recent drilling data at the Mt McClure Project to establish controls on potential higher grade plunging shoots and the potential for establishing an initial mineral resource estimate at Success and Challenger.
