Tempest Minerals' encouraging gold and polymetallic hits confirm Euro project potential

Results received in the most recent drilling program correlate with historic results as well as now exhibiting highly anomalous polymetallic (gold, base metals and iron) intersections across the drill horizon.

Tempest Minerals Ltd (ASX:TEM) has intersected high-grade gold and highly anomalous base metal and iron grades, confirming the potential for its Euro Project in the Yalgoo region of Western Australia.

The assays confirm the prospectivity of the Calais target area where the company has identified a mineralised corridor at least one kilometre in strike length, with strong results including:

  • 2.9 metres at 4.1 g/t gold from 130 metres, including 1.6 metres at 6.9 g/t from 131.3 metres;
  • 1-metre at 0.16% copper from 164 metres;
  • 1.3 metres at 0.20% zinc from 68.7 metres;
  • 3.6 metres at 0.16% arsenic from 12.4 metres; and
  • 4 metres at 29.3% iron from 4.9 metres Including 0.9 metres at 38.6%.

Looking ahead, Tempest has follow-up drilling on the cards and is awaiting regulatory approvals for this work.

Drilling results

Results received in the most recent drilling program correlate with historic results as well as now exhibiting highly anomalous polymetallic (gold, base metals and iron) intersections across the drill horizon.

The company had drilled almost 400 holes into the northern section of the Euro Project with many of these encountering significant gold mineralisation.

Tempest had previously reported the presence of numerous outcropping iron-rich geological units across the Euro Project.

The current drilling results show that high-grade iron is also present at depth and is potentially related to other types of mineralisation present at the project.

These results come in addition to the recent high profile Orion discovery at the Meleya Project, which is about 50 kilometres to the northeast of Euro.

Project geology

The Euro Project comprises primarily ultramafic, mafic and felsic stratigraphy with banded iron formations (BIF), which form part of the southern Yalgoo Greenstone belt.

Both the mafic/ultramafic sequences – which include Rothsay and Mount Mulgine pits – and the BIF at Karara 3 are known to host gold throughout the region.

The recent drilling at Euro also intersected thick zones of a previously undocumented sedimentary package in the south of the Calais target which is possibly related to the extensive iron formations which are present across the terrain.

Geological mapping of the drilling area

Forward plan

Tempest’s gold results alone have confirmed the significant potential for the project to continue development with further drilling.

The additional confirmation of the presence of widespread polymetallic mineralisation is an encouraging addition and the technical team is reviewing how it can assist in the exploration planning for further discovery.

In addition, Tempest has planned further geological mapping and sampling at the project area. Geophysical surveys are also on the cards to better delineate the mineralisation extent at Euro.
