Playtech PLC (LSE:PTEC) said takeover talks with TT Bond Partners are continuing and are approaching their fourth month.
Progress “continues to be made”, the FTSE 250-listed gambling software group said, though the board noted that Hong Kong-based TTB “has been considering a possible offer for Playtech for 15 weeks”.
Offering the usual caveat that there is no certainty that an offer will be made and at what price, Playtech added that the independent board committee, excluding chief executive Mor Weizer, is still exploring options for maximising shareholder value.
The group reiterated that its strong performance has continued through April and into May.
In February, Playtech shareholders rejected a A$2.8bn (£1.5bn) offer from Australia’s Aristocrat, with a large group of Asian investors said to have voted against the deal.
Other suitors, including the Gopher Investments consortium (the company’s second-largest shareholder and an affiliate of TTB), and the JKO Play vehicle led by Eddie Jordan have also walked away.
TTB is a corporate finance advisory firm founded by former Goldman Sachs partner Teresa Teague and ex-hedge fund manager Jonathan Bond.
Shares in Playtech climbed 0.8% to 509p in early trading on Friday, down 30% since the start of the year.
