Discovery Alaska Ltd (ASX:DAF) has revealed the presence of widespread lithium mineralisation during a review of historical drill core from Coal Creek prospect of the Chulitna Project, offering solid evidence of lithium potential for the Alaskan project.

Data for the review was sourced from more than 5,000 metres of Coal Creek drill core held in storage at the Geological Materials Centre in Anchorage.

Re-analysis work is still in progress, with 12 drill holes selected for priority lithium assessment.

DAF believes the accessibility, quality and quantity of drill core from Coal Creek will allow the rapid advancement of core logging, sampling and laboratory analysis work, with the goal of establishing a JORC-compliant lithium resource for the prospect.

“First lithium prospect in Alaska”

“The company is excited to identify the first lithium prospect in Alaska, with access to extensive historic drill core that will allow us to rapidly expedite exploration works at Coal Creek, and in a strategic location close to the major Parks Highway and the State-owned Alaska railroad,” Discovery Alaska director Jerko Zuvela said.

“The company will accelerate works to test the remaining prospective drill core to determine potential scale of the lithium bearing zone.

“We look forward to realising the lithium potential at our Coal Creek prospect and advancing works toward delineating a maiden JORC resource.”

Discovery’s Chulitna Project consist of 199 square kilometres of granted mining claims, containing multiple prospect targets for commodities, including gold, silver, copper, tin, base metals and now lithium.
