Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd and its subsidiary Blowfish Studios have successfully closed an oversubscribed Planet Private Sale for Phantom Galaxies, one of the most anticipated AAA blockchain games.
The companies estimate that 7,734 Planets and Asteroids were sold for a total of US$19.3 million.
Planets as currency
Planets are unique NFTs that will provide holders with in-game real estate and utility as well as a regular emission of the native cryptocurrency of Phantom Galaxies.
Planets are key in-game assets for Phantom Galaxies, representing the game’s 'user-ownable real estate'. Each planet will have designated coordinates within the game universe, while randomised traits make it unique.
Owners will have full digital property rights over planets and will be able to monetise them by building structures, such as marketplaces and hangars, as well as choosing their planet’s governance system.
Open-world mech combat game
Phantom Galaxies is an open-world mech combat game, currently in Alpha, developed by Blowfish Studios.
The game will be one of the first blockchain-based AAA titles to launch with broad appeal to traditional gaming enthusiasts and Web 3 natives. Three of the four episodes of the Alpha version are available now and subscribers can expect early access to the Beta launch in the third quarter of the year.
There are currently more than 125,000 users actively playing the Alpha version of Phantom Galaxies and more than 500,000 owners of the NFTs granting access to the Alpha game. These NFTs have generated around 1,700 in ETH trading volume on the OpenSea platform.
Strategic supporters investing
A number of strategic supporters invested in Phantom Galaxies during the Planet Private Sale, including Sequoia China, Liberty City Ventures, GameFi Ventures, Everest Ventures Group, Terrace Tower Group (NASDAQ:TWGP), MDDN Co (Joel and Benji Madden), C Ventures and many more.
The wider public will have the chance to own a piece of the galaxy in an upcoming planet public sale. Two presales for the public will give select users the opportunity to purchase a planet before the full public sale.
Presale A will be available to holders of a Hopeful NFT, which can be purchased on OpenSea. Presale B will be available to 7,500 users who own an Episode 2 Medal NFT, which can be attained by completing Episode 2 of the Alpha and redeeming a Poster NFT.
The Episode 2 Medal NFT can also be purchased on OpenSea. A snapshot will occur on May 20, assigning presale tickets that will be airdropped shortly thereafter.
