American Manganese delivers cathode precursor samples made from recycled material to third-party collaborators

"We are maintaining an active collaboration with players in the growing battery industry with our continuous lab-scale research, while we work in parallel to prepare our demonstration plant for scaled-up and continuous operation," Larry Rea

American Manganese Inc. (TSX-V:AMY, OTCQB:AMYZF) has updated on its technology and partnership development strategy, highlighting that it produced and delivered NMC-811 cathode precursor material samples, made from recycled material, to third-party collaborators in North America, Europe, and Asia.

The feedstock material was black mass coming from waste electric vehicle batteries, the company said, adding that the cathode precursor is a specifically engineered material - commonly containing nickel, cobalt, and manganese - which turns into a cathode when lithium is added.

"We are maintaining an active collaboration with players in the growing battery industry with our continuous lab-scale research, while we work in parallel to prepare our demonstration plant for scaled-up and continuous operation," Larry Reaugh, president and CEO of American Manganese said in a statement. "We believe our lithium-ion battery recycling and upcycling technology enables a circular solution for the battery supply chain, and we aim to strengthen our relationship with the various collaborators."

The cathode precursor material will be analyzed independently and built into battery cells to benchmark against precursors from virgin mined materials, the company said.

American Manganese is a critical metals company focused on the recycling of lithium-ion batteries using its RecycLiCo process.
