Blackbird PLC (AIM:BIRD, OTCQX:BBRDF) announced the appointment of Sumit Rai as chief product officer, who will join in June from VEGAS Creative Software where he holds the same role.
Rai will help take the technology licensor, developer and seller of the cloud native video editing platform to wider markets.
“We are bringing him into the Blackbird team to lead the strategic development of our product portfolio and help accelerate our growth,” Ian McDonough, chief executive, said.
Rai has over 23 years of leadership experience in the video and film industry.
He started off as a visual effects and video editor in news production, children's TV and film, before progressing to chief technology officer at Pukka Films, developing an innovative, award-winning production facility before founding Kulu Valley, Blackbird said.
Kulu was acquired by Qumu Inc in 2014 where Rai served as chief marketing officer and chief product officer.
