Surefire Resources to begin RC drilling at Yidby Road gold deposit next week

The Yidly Gold Project comprises three granted exploration licences with a total area of 114 square kilometres and includes three prospects including the Yidby Road deposit where significant gold mineralisation has been identified.

Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) is set to begin the next phase of drilling at the Yidby Road deposit within the Yidby Gold Project in Western Australia.

The company will next week begin the program and has planned 4,000 metres of six-inch reverse circulation (RC) drilling aimed at growing the gold mineralised footprint.

It will drill a previously untested mobile metal ion (MMI) gold anomaly in the Yidby discovery zone.

Yidby Road is a blind deposit, lying beneath 10 to 25 metres of largely barren transported overburden that masks the mineralisation.

Looking ahead, Surefire aims to extend the main Yidby Road gold mineralisation to the north, northwest and southeast during the course of the RC program.

Aims of program

The planned drilling has multiple aims including:

  • To drill test a previously untested MMI gold anomaly in the Yidby discovery zone;
  • A large MMI anomaly around 100 metres to the northwest of the Yidby Road deposit will be tested with a total of 11 RC holes to 100 metres deep;
  • Drilling, west to east, is planned to cover the entire anomalous area;
  • Previous drilling of anomalies in the discovery zones has provided wide downhole gold intersections;
  • To test for along strike extensions to the discovery zone gold MMI geochemistry anomalies;
  • To drill test the extensions to the main Yidby Road Gold Deposit. The current gold envelope is open to the north, northwest and southeast; and
  • To drill pre-collars for diamond drill holes. Diamond drilling will provide information for further structural analysis and will be a requirement for future resource analysis.

About Yidby

The Yidby Gold Project comprises three granted exploration licences with a total area of 114 square kilometres and includes three prospects where significant gold mineralisation has been identified.

They are associated with historical workings at Delaney Well and Cashens Find, and Surefire’s discovery at Yidby Road prospect.

Surefire’s extensive use of MMI geochemistry and targeted drilling has continued to successfully delineate extensive gold mineralisation at Yidby Road.

Notably, the deposit is characterised by thick intersections with high-grade gold cores.
