Infinity Lithium Corporation Ltd (ASX:INF) and its subsidiaries have been hard at work building a cooperative network of local businesses and institutions in the Extremadura region of Spain, having just signed an agreement with the Association of Transport Entrepreneurs of Extremadura (Asemtraex).
Infinity’s subsidiary, Extremadura New Energies, will work together with Asemtraex to promote economic development opportunities within the freight sector in the community of Cáceres and in the Extremadura region, while also creating the infrastructural support necessary for INF’s planned integrated lithium chemical conversion project.
This marks the fourth such agreement made with local and regional entities, adding to a training and development deal signed with local business clusters LOABRE and CarEX, and membership in the Círculo Empresarial Cacereño – a business association focused on promoting economic development and business initiatives within the lithium-ion battery chain in Cáceres.
Additionally, EIT InnoEnergy – another of Extremadura New Energies’ collaborative partners – will implement training courses from the European Battery Academy, and will be a priority partner for the distribution, promotion and delivery of these courses covering technology, business and innovation in the battery and hydrogen sector in Extremadura region.
In this most recent agreement, Asemtraex and Extremadura New Energies have committed to “work together to generate an ideal ecosystem to promote economic growth, fight unemployment and generate opportunities for the population of Cáceres and Extremadura”.
Plant to be “centre of development”
Extremadura New Energies CEO Ramón Jiménez Serrano noted that: “This is a further step in the search for synergies with local entrepreneurs.
“One of Extremadura New Energies’ main objectives is for the lithium processing plant to become a centre of development and to help to attract other projects that will especially benefit commerce in the region.
“Cáceres can play a very important role in the new industrial ecosystem that will be generated around lithium.”
Logistics a vital element
Transportation logistics concerning raw materials and refined products are a vital element in the successful development of the San José Lithium Project, which is likely to see a large amount of material moved in downstream integrated supply chains.
Asemtraex president Miguel Ángel Sánchez Bravo notes: “The business association is in favour of industrial activities, which in compliance with the applicable legislation, involves the creation of a business network and the contribution of wealth and added value for Cáceres and Extremadura – especially those generating synergies for the road transport sector represented by Asemtraex.
“The Extremadura New Energies project will boost both direct and indirect activity in freight and other industrial initiatives, with both parties collaborating to support the creation of a transport logistics centre in Cáceres.”
