Lucky Minerals says trenching at its Ecuador gold discovery has identified additional mineralization ahead of its upcoming drill program

The company said a sample taken from a lens of magnetite returned 7.81 g/t gold over 1m

Lucky Minerals (TSX-V:LKY, OTC:LKMNF) Inc said trenching at the Wayka epithermal gold discovery at its Fortuna property in southern Ecuador has identified additional mineralization ahead of the company’s upcoming drill program at the site.

The company said wall zone trenching had identified additional altered mineralized structures that would be tested in upcoming drilling, slated to begin in June.

Trenching in the wall zone in weakly altered meta granites returned anomalous gold, while trenching in the Kelly zone returned an average of 1.21 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over 10 metres (m) and also identified anomalous altered structures.

A sample taken from a lens of magnetite with pyrite veinlets and disseminations identified hosted in a leucocratic coarse-grained granite about 1 kilometre (km) east of the wall zone returned 7.81 g/t gold over 1m, the company said.

Lucky Minerals CEO Francois Perron said the upcoming drill program would expand the company’s field work knowledge to depth about the alteration systems at Wayka.

“Hopefully by understanding the intensity of alteration in all of these structures we will better understand how to direct our exploration efforts towards higher potential areas,” Perron said.

“The new sample from a magnetite vein located 1 km east of our current trenching efforts adds a new avenue of exploration as this type of mineralization is distinct from what we have encountered thus far.”

Lucky Minerals is a gold exploration company focused on advancing its Fortuna project in Ecuador.
