Eden Research PLC (AIM:EDEN, OTCQB:EDNSF) said it had passed a "key milestone" with regulators which should herald approval for a number of its environmentally friendly biopesticide products and active ingredients in the world’s biggest agriculture market.
It said the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted Sustaine, the company’s plastic-free microencapsulation technology, an exemption from the requirement of a tolerance for residues in pesticide formulations in pre-harvest applications to crops.
In layperson's terms, this means Eden is now in the final stages of a process which should result in its three active ingredients - eugenol, geraniol and thymol - and two formulated products - Mevalone and Cedroz - receiving authorisation in the States this year.
In the same announcement, investors were told that Eden’s partner in Italy had been granted a line extension for bio-fungicide Mevalone.
It can now be used against two new fungal pathogens, adding new crop types such as berry fruits, tomato, watermelon, salad leaves, herbs, aubergines, cucumbers and peppers to the label.
