A leading academic journal has published research that burnishes the potential of Faron Pharmaceuticals Oy (AIM:FARN, OTC:FPHAF)’s lead cancer drug, bexmarilimab.
The article in American Association for Cancer Research publication, Molecular Cancer Therapeutics, focuses on the Clever-1 protein and explores the hypothesis it should be the target for the next generation of immunotherapies.
Researchers have found that Clever-1 is highly prevalent in patients who fail to respond to current checkpoint inhibitor drugs.
"This research underlines the strength of the science behind our bexmarilimab programme,” said Marie-Louise Fjällskog, Faron’s chief medical officer.
“It is widely known that tumour progression is profoundly influenced by interactions of the cells within the tumour microenvironment, which makes it a critical area of focus for the development of new immunotherapies."
