Elon Musk wants to be the new chief executive officer of Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR), claim multiple reports.
As well as being boss of Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) and founder-CEO of SpaceX, the world's richest man is eager for a temporary top seat at Twitter's table once his US$44bn takeover of the social media giant is completed.
Current Twitter boss Parag Agrawal, who began his duties in November, will hold on to his position until the sale is consummated.
On Thursday, Tesla shares fell by 8% as investors fretted about Musk's involvement with Twitter diluting his focus on the electric car maker.
However, Twitter shares extended gains and finished up almost 3% at US$50.36, but still below the offer price of US$54.20.
Thursday also saw Musk confirm that investors are expected to provide US$7.14bn in funding for his takeover bid, including Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and private equity group Sequoia Capital.
Saudi Arabia's Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, who said last month the deal price was not sufficient for him to sell his shares, has now agreed to roll his US$1.89bn stake over in support of the new regime, and said Musk would be an "excellent leader" for Twitter.
"Kingdom Holding Company and I look forward to roll our US$1.9bn in the 'new' Twitter," Alwaleed said in a tweet.
Musk has secured US$13bn in loans from 19 investors, according to Reuters, including crypto platform Binance and New York-based real estate tycoon Steven Witkoff.
