Moho Resources Ltd (ASX:MOH) has generated multiple nickel targets for drill testing at the Black Swan South Nickel prospect of the Silver Swan Nickel Mine following a review of historical geochemical assay data.
The company discovered prospective lithologies (rock formations) with potential to hold nickel mineralisation within the same area as a large magnetic anomaly 4.3 kilometres south-southwest of the Black Swan nickel mine.
Potential nickel sulphides
This poorly tested geological contact of prospective rocks was interpreted to extend over 700 metres, with geochemical analysis identifying potential nickel sulphides in three drill sections:
Section 6632900:
- Peak nickel-copper-zinc anomalism in regolith (cover) close to the ultramafic basal contact (prospective lithologies).
Section 6632760:
- Strong nickel-copper-zinc anomalism supported by weaker more diffuse anomalism in upper regolith;
- Two ultramafic flows (prospective rock intrusions) indicated by chromium values; and
- Nickel-copper-zinc anomalism near base of ultramafic flow.
Section 6632570:
- Subtle indications of sulphides from elevated copper just above basal contact; and
- Elevated arsenic in basal 8 metres of ultramafic indicating sulphides.
Moho to drill-test Black Swan South imminently
“Moho considers that the Black Swan South nickel prospect is under-explored, given this positive outcome from the geochemical review and that most historical drill holes terminated at less than 80 metres below surface,” Moho Resources managing director Shane Sadleir said.
“We are looking forward to the upcoming RC (reverse circulation) drill program that will test these anomalies as soon as possible.”
The company’s next steps will be to action a reverse circulation (RC) drill program to test the geochemical nickel and copper anomalies, conduct a down-hole electromagnetic (DHEM) survey of selected RC drill holes, begin ground EM surveying over magnetic anomalies to look for more nickel targets, and to diamond drill a historic DHEM target.
