Polymetals Resources Ltd (ASX:POL)’s latest results from geological mapping and artisanal pit sampling program demonstrate the gold prospectivity of Mansala Project in Guinea, West Africa.
The company’s first round auger drilling and rock chip sampling identified quartz stockwork within artisanal workings with high-grade rock chip results including 16.70 g/t, 8.35 g/t, 5.74 g/t and 5.48 g/t gold over 600 metres strike length.
In addition, the best auger drill results include:
- 3 metres at 4.57 g/t gold;
- 3 metres at 3.26 g/t; and
- 1-metre at 2.50 g/t.
Looking ahead, Polymetals anticipates receiving final assays during May which will be followed by an airborne magnetic survey scheduled for June 2022.

Pit sampling program
Polymetals’ pit sampling program was designed to confirm the nature and gold content of the material being extracted by artisanal miners.
A total of 103 rock chip samples were collected from the walls of abandoned 1-metre x 1-metre artisanal mining shafts and directly from active artisanal workings.
Results suggest that the area sampled within this program is highly prospective with follow-up reverse circulation drilling to be undertaken to investigate the source at depth of this observed near-surface supergene gold mineralisation.
Auger program
To date, Polymetals have completed a total of 6,123 metres across 799 auger holes at an average depth of 7 metres.
The objective of the auger program was to test gold in soil anomalies supported by coincident pathfinder elements.
Polymetals’ auger drilling program was carried out by Sahara Natural Resources with all assays completed by the SGS laboratory in Bamako, Mali.
Forward plan
An airborne magnetic survey of the Mansala licence area is scheduled to begin in June 2022, the results of which will be used to refine existing drill targets and generate new drill targets.
Upon completion of the auger program, XRF analysis for several pathfinder elements will be conducted on all bottom-of-hole intervals to complement geochemical data obtained from the previous soil sampling campaign.
An initial aircore/reverse circulation (RC) drill program will now be planned for the Mansala licence.
Priority areas defined from the current auger program and targets identified from the airborne magnetic survey will be tested during the drill programs
