QC Copper and Gold reveals encouraging new intersections from Opemiska, expanding size of starter pit

The Quebec-focused company said that intersections include significant mineralized holes from zones within and outside the conceptual pit

QC Copper and Gold Inc. (TSX-V:QCCU, OTCQB:QCCUF) has announced significant new intersections from its flagship Opemiska copper operation, which the company said has increased the size of the starter pit.

The junior miner said that intersections include significant mineralized holes from zones within and outside the conceptual pit.

Highlights from the results include 94.5 metres of 0.42% copper equivalent and 192 metres of 0.33% copper equivalent, the company said.

Opemiska’s current resource estimate outlines 81.7 million tonnes at 0.88% copper equivalent in the measured and indicated category and 21.4 million tonnes at 0.73% copper equivalent in the inferred category.

"Our ongoing drilling is continually improving our deposit model, allowing us to become more predictive in our targeting,” Charles Beaudry, QC Copper’s vice president of exploration said in a statement.

“This is particularly important in the Mill Zone where thick crown pillars can provide very high grades in the early years of mine production with very low strip ratios.”

Beaudry told shareholders that the results, along with a previous drill hole, are designed to convert what counted as barren rock into mineralized material, which the VP said reduces the amount of waste and increases the starter pit's size.

The Mill zone is where most of the 2021 resource estimate start pit resides between the Springer and Saddle Zones, QC Copper noted.

The Toronto-based company has drilled a total of 20,014 metres over 81 holes on the property since its 2021 resource estimate was published.

The Opemiska property covers 12,782 hectares and covers the past producing Springer, Perry, Robitaille, and Cooke mines, which were previously owned and operated by Falconbridge between 1953-1991.

The project hosts excellent on-site infrastructure, including a power station and direct access to Highway 113 and the Canadian National Railway (NYSE:CNI).
