Kodiak Copper Corp has unveiled encouraging final drill results from last year's program at the MPD copper-gold project in southern British Columbia and said this year's fully-funded program of up to 25,000 metres (m) is now underway.
The assays hail from the final seven holes from the program and confirm the 2.7 kilometre (km) long copper-in-soil anomaly Dillard as "substantial" porphyry target and also extended the known strike length of the Gate Zone to 1 km.
Both Dillard and Gate Zone remain open to extension in multiple directions and will be further tested in the 2022 program, the firm said.
"Due to the significant multi-kilometre scale of the Dillard copper target, the immediate discovery of higher-grading copper mineralization in our first two drill holes is an exciting new development that we are eager to follow up with more drilling in 2022," said Claudia Tornquist, the Kodiak CEO in a statement.

The first holes into the Dillard target confirmed higher-grade mineralization at shallow depths ranging from 86m to 203m downhole and highlights included a length of 28.8m starting from 86m grading 0.36% copper, 0.16 grams per ton (g/t) gold and 0.24 g/t silver.
A second hole intersected 21m starting from 182m depth of 0.52% copper, 0.17 g/t gold and 0.79 g/t silver. That intercept was within a broader 381.1 metre interval of 0.18% copper, 0.08 g/t gold and 0.28 g/t silver.
Meanwhile, the new drill hole at Gate hit a broad 457m interval grading 0.15% copper, 0.04 g/t gold and 0.14 g/t silver, including 48m of 0.25% copper, 0.07 g/t gold and 0.06 g/t silver, extending the Gate Zone envelope to over 1 km of strike, north to south.
Kodiak noted that all results have now been reported from the 2021 drill program at MPD and this year's program of up to 25,000m using two rigs was underway.
Additional 3D IP surveying and infill soil geochemical sampling is scheduled over the next few months to further evaluate Gate and nearby parallel high-priority drill targets, as well as targets in the Dillard, Man and Axe areas, which exhibit similar geophysical and geochemical features, including copper-gold mineralization reported from historic trenches and drilling.
Kodiak is advancing the wholly-owned copper porphyry projects in Canada and the US. Its most advanced asset is the MPD copper-gold porphyry project in the prolific Quesnel Trough in south-central British Columbia, Canada. MPD has all the hallmarks of a large, multi-centered porphyry system.
