Instem PLC (AIM:INS) is part of a research consortium that has secured a €2.5mln European Medicines Agency grant.
The company’s In Silico Solutions group will lend its services to a team of industry and academic experts assessing the potentially harmful effects of N-nitrosamines (NAs).
These chemical compounds are related to consuming certain foods or tobacco use. Pharmaceutical ingredients may also carry NAs as impurities from production and/or storage.
The two-year project will be led by the Fraunhofer Institute for Toxicology and Experimental Medicine.
