Destiny Pharma names Yuri Martina as new chief medical officer

Recently, Martina was senior vice president and deputy chief medical officer at Grunenthal Group

Destiny Pharma PLC (AIM:DEST) named Dr Yuri Martina as its new chief medical officer.

Martina joins the biotechnology company with more than 20 years of experience and an “extensive record of excellence in clinical development”.

According to a company statement, Martina also has successful interactions with stakeholders and regulatory and government bodies, including the European Medicines Agency.

Recently, Martina was senior vice president and deputy chief medical officer at Grunenthal Group, where he was responsible for advancing the company's assets.

He also played a part in the acquisition of Mestex AG and was driving in-licensing and out-licensing activities.

Prior to that, he was vice president of development and clinical operations for Shionogi Europe, where he was a “key contributor” to the approval of medicines Mulpeo and Cefiderocol.

"Yuri is an important new member of our team, as he brings the right skill sets to drive the strategy, direction and execution of the company's phase 3 clinical development plans as we move towards the next phase of our growth,” said Destiny Pharma's chief executive Nick Clark.
