Alicanto Minerals Ltd (ASX:AQI) has returned a “potentially game-changing” massive sulphide intersection of 4.7 metres at 24.4% zinc, 875 g/t silver and 3.7% lead only 120 metres from surface near the Sala Silver-Lead-Zinc-Copper-Gold Project in Sweden.
The results are considered highly significant because they reveal a new structure parallel to Sala as well as extensions to the historic Sala ore body hosting substantial high-grade and shallow massive sulphide mineralisation.
Looking ahead, Alicanto is well funded with $6.1 million in cash, with two rigs drilling at Sala, set to deliver its maiden mineral resource estimate this quarter.
“Highly significant”
Alicanto managing director Peter George said the discovery of thick and high-grade massive sulphides in a parallel structure to Sala was highly significant.
’’These exceptional results are a potential game-changer for Sala,” George said.
”This new discovery lends significant strength to our belief that there is also more Sala-style, structurally-controlled galena and sphalerite mineralisation to be found in the NW-SE synforms and antiforms lying outside of the historic Sala mine.
”We are on track to complete the maiden JORC resource at Sala this quarter, while drilling will continue to test for these repeat structures."
Drilling results
Alicanto’s recent drilling has intersected a highly mineralised northwest-trending antiform structure, 200 metres to the southwest of the Sala Mine.
The mineralised fold and fault structure, which is parallel to the world-class Sala Mine, highlights the potential for repeats of Sala-style structurally controlled mineralisation.
Notably, the northwest extension of Sala now exceeds 300 metres and is open at depth and along strike.
Alicanto has also identified multiple mineralised zones which include the adjacent Prince Lode with drill intersections of:
- 86.8 metres at 5.3% zinc, 40 g/t silver and 0.3% lead; and
- 37.2 metres at 6.1% zinc and 50 g/t silver.
