Kingwest Resources appoints experienced resources executive Ashok Parekh to board

The Kalgoorlie-based non-executive director has extensive business and ASX board experience along with experience and relationships in the Western Australia resources sector.

Kingwest Resources Ltd (ASX:KWR) has enhanced its Board of Directors through the appointment of experienced resources executive Ashok Parekh as a non-executive director, effective May 2, 2022.

Kalgoorlie-based Parekh has extensive business and ASX board experience along with experience and relationships in the Western Australia resources sector developed over many years.

Breadth of knowledge

These qualities and his breadth of knowledge are expected to help maximise value of the company’s 100%-owned Menzies Gold Project, ensure it is positioned to optimise exploration of the Lake Goongarrie gold discovery and pursue possible corporate opportunities.

Chairman Greg Bittar said, “The board is extremely pleased that Ashok has agreed to join Kingwest. It highlights the potential for Kingwest to deliver value through exploration, commercialisation and regional opportunities.”

Parekh is chairman of Kingwest’s substantial shareholder Horizon Minerals Ltd (ASX:HRZ) and has previously been chairman of Macphersons Resources Ltd (ASX:MRP) and A1 Consolidated Gold (ASX:AYC) Ltd.

Board evolution

The appointment comes as Kingwest continues the evolution of its board.

This includes the resignation of Jon Price, effective May 2, 2022, and the intention of Adrian Byass to resign ahead of this year’s Annual General Meeting once further consideration around the composition of the board is finalised.

Bittar said: “I would also like to acknowledge and thank the contribution and tremendous support Jon Price has provided during his time on the Kingwest board and wish him all the best as he focuses on the opportunities presented by Horizon Minerals.

“The board would also like to thank Adrian for his continued commitment and support both as chairman and more recently non-executive director.

"Adrian will continue to support the company as the board considers the optimal board skills mix for Kingwest,” the chairman added.
