Arecor Therapeutics PLC (AIM:AREC) said its ultra-rapid acting, ultra-concentrated insulin asset has the potential to become a best-in-class drug for the treatment of people requiring high doses of the hormone.
The company will present full data from a phase I clinical evaluation of AT278 at the 15th International Advanced Technologies and Treatments for Diabetes meeting.
Delegates will be told AT278 delivers significantly accelerated absorption of insulin compared with gold standard treatment, NovoRapid, while the drug also has a favourable safety profile.
"Presenting the positive data achieved in our successful AT278 Phase I clinical study marks another significant step forward for Arecor's best-in-class diabetes franchise,” said Arecor chief executive Sarah Howell.
“AT278 has the potential to become the gold standard insulin treatment for the growing population of people living with diabetes, who have high daily insulin needs, particularly those with Type-2 diabetes.”
