Surefire Resources NL (ASX:SRN) has received another positive drilling result from a surface geochemical anomaly at the New Discovery Zone of the Yidby Gold Project in WA.
On January 19 and March 21, the company announced drilling results and outlined targets developed from geophysical interpretation and logging and a surface anomaly lying over an identified major northwest shear focused on the Yidby Road prospect.
Gold further west than thought
All assays have now been received, with significant positive results – in particular, at one hole, where the gold anomaly has returned a wide, shallow intersection of 8 metres at 1.43 g/t gold from 18 metres.
The hole was drilled to test the south-easterly extension of the mineralisation at the New Discovery Zone, defined as 250 metres west-southwest of the Yidby gold deposit.
This shallow gold discovery was made further west than expected, which indicates that the shear zone is wider than initially interpreted.
The zone has now been extended a further 80 metres southeast from the previous drill hole and remains open to the southeast.
Open in all directions
The company is confident that these results point to a significant expansion of the footprint of the deposit while leaving it open in all directions – to the north, northwest, southeast and down dip.
“Yidby rarely throws up a disappointing drill hole; this gold deposit is growing with every hole drilled,” said managing director Vladimir Nikolaenko. “I am delighted with the development of our Yidby Project.”
The company has now locked in its next phase of drilling.
