Critical Resources hits visual spodumene in first hole at Mavis Lake Lithium Project in Canada

“We feel that Mavis Lake has the potential to be a transformational asset for the company and we are committed in our goal of defining a JORC-compliant resource," says MD Alex Biggs.

Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR) has confirmed the prospectivity of its drill targets at the Mavis Lake Lithium Project in Ontario, Canada, with visual spodumene evident in the first drill hole of the inaugural 5,000-metre program.

Spodumene was intercepted throughout a pegmatite intercept of 7.63 metres in the first drill hole MF22-60, visually white to grey and estimated to contain about 25% of medium to large spodumene crystals, although the company cautions against putting too much stock in visual estimations.

This first hole was drilled to a depth of 47 metres, with the next hole intended to test down-dip potential to a down-hole depth of 141 metres.

“Exciting” first-hole result

“To encounter visual mineralisation in our first drill hole at Mavis Lake is extremely exciting,” Critical Resources managing director Alex Biggs said.

“The company has moved quickly and efficiently in the acquisition and exploration strategy for Mavis Lake and it’s great to see results so early in our campaign.

“We feel that Mavis Lake has the potential to be a transformational asset for the company and we are committed in our goal of defining a JORC-compliant resource.”

Previous drill programs have returned high-grade lithium oxide (Li2O) intercepts, including:

  • 55.25 metres at 1.04% Li2O from 80.75 metres; and
  • 26.30 metres at 1.70% Li2O from 111.9 metres, including 7.70 metres at 2.97% from 130.5 metres.

Critical is primarily targeting known areas of pegmatite mineralisation, with planned drill collar locations as below:
