OzAurum Resources Ltd (ASX:OZM) has kicked off a diamond drilling program at the New Discovery Demag Zone within the Mulgabbie North Project Gold Project in Western Australia.
The initial diamond holes will target extensions of gold mineralisation associated with previous strong reverse circulation (RC) intersections such as:
- 56 metres at 1.31 g/t gold from 68 metres including 18 metres at 2.07 g/t in MNORC 177; and
- 26 metres at 1.79 g/t from 136 metres including 8 metres at 4.78 g/t in MNORC 176.
OzAurum is confident that the diamond core will provide valuable information on lithology, mineralisation, alteration and structure associated with the gold mineralisation at the Demag Zone.
Looking ahead, an RC rig is scheduled to mobilise to site in four week’s time to begin RC drilling at the Demag Zone.
Drilling program
The New Discovery Demag Zone hosts significant RC gold results over three 100-metre spaced drill lines - 8300N, 8400N and 8500N.
Diamond drilling has begun at the 8400N section which aims to target gold mineralisation at depth that was previously intersected in RC drill holes MNORC 177 and 176.
Notably, mineralisation intersected in MNORC 177 is associated with pyrite and arsenopyrite mineralisation and quartz veining.
Encouragingly, the Mulgabbie North Relief Shear continues to demonstrate its potential to host significant gold mineralisation adjacent to Northern Star Resources Ltd (ASX:NST)'s Carosue Dam mill.
Forward plan
Follow up RC drilling at the Mulgabbie North Demag Zone is a high priority, along with ongoing RC drill testing of aircore saprolite gold anomalies and extensions at the Ben and James prospects.
Utilising best practice RC drilling, sampling and assay protocols will allow for a potential future JORC 2012=compliant resource to be estimated with confidence at Mulgabbie North.
