Aurumin Ltd (ASX:AUN) has begun the next stage of exploration at the Central Sandstone Gold Project in WA after completing the first stage of shallow geochemical auger drilling.
The company used a vehicle-mounted auger drill to test and infill five targets generated in a previous auger program, and a further 29 areas of interest were investigated with a first pass of wide-spaced auger drilling.
A total of 467 holes were drilled with the aim of recovering geochemical samples of the cover-bedrock boundary.

Due to difficulties penetrating hard ground and deep transported cover with the auger drill, Aurumin adjusted the scope and coverage of the program.
Sampling was successfully completed at 29 of 36 areas of interest, with alternative sampling strategies in the works to assess the incomplete areas.
All collected samples have been sent to the laboratory, with results expected to be returned within 2-3 weeks.
About Central Sandstone Project
Located on a sealed highway between the mining towns of Mt Magnet and Leinster in the East Murchison Mineral Field of Western Australia, the Central Sandstone Project has historically produced more than 1 million ounces of gold since the 1890s.
The project’s processing plant was built in 1994 with a capacity of 250,000 tonnes per annum, upgraded to 500,000 tonnes per annum in 1999 by then owner Troy.
The plant was placed on care and maintenance in 2010 and has not been operated since, but maintains a functional airport.
Aurumin is confident that the Central Sandstone Project has the potential for new deposits to be discovered, and intends to develop a comprehensive exploration program for 2022 to assess the project.
