Greggs appoints experienced HR executive Lynne Weedall as non-exec director

Weedall joins the bakery chain on 17 May and will replace Helena Ganczakowski as chair of the remuneration committee in 2023

Greggs PLC (LSE:GRG) said it appointed Lynne Weedall as an independent non-executive director, who will join the bakery chain on 17 May, immediately after the company's annual general meeting.

Formerly a senior executive at Selfridges, and prior to that at Carphone Warehouse, Weedall has extensive experience in people and business transformation, the company said in a statement.

Over the course of her executive career, Weedall has participated in and led transformational projects in several of the companies she has worked for, including Whitbread PLC (LSE:WTB) and BUPA.

"Lynne brings with her extensive experience of HR & transformational change, and will add significant value to our board during this transitional phase and beyond," said Ian Durant, chair of Greggs.

In 2023, when Helena Ganczakowski steps down as chair of the remuneration committee at Greggs, Weedall will replace her.

In addition to being independent non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee at Dr Martens PLC (LSE:DOCS) and Stagecoach Group PLC (LSE:SGC), Weedall is due to join Softcat (LSE:SCT)'s board on 3 May 2022 as a non-executive director and chairman of the remuneration committee.

Treatt PLC (LSE:TET) also has Weedall on its board of non-executive directors and as chair of its nominations committee.

Weedall served as a non-executive director and chair of the remuneration committee of Greene King (LSE:GNK) from 2012 until 2019 and William Hill PLC (LSE:WMH) from 2019 until April 2021.
