Solstice Gold reveals exploration plans for its New Frontier and Red Lake Extension projects in Ontario; appoints Pablo McDonald as its exploration manager

The gold exploration company said both data sets from New Frontier are in association with a major shear zone that suggests high potential for future gold discoveries

Solstice Gold Corp has provided an update on the exploration plans for its 100% owned New Frontier project in Ontario’s Red Lake Gold Camp, saying compilation data from the project shows gold in float and clusters of elevated gold and silver in third-party tills.

The gold exploration company said both data sets are in association with a major shear zone that suggests high potential for future gold discoveries, which will be the objective of Solstice’s planned 2022 field program of soil sampling, mapping and prospecting that is expected to begin this summer.

“New Frontier, while earlier stage than our drill targets to the south, is a compelling regional target at the confluence of crustal-scale structures and elevated geochemistry,” Solstice Gold CEO Mike Timmins said in a statement. “Our goal is to bring New Frontier to the drill stage by the end of 2023 to add even more potential to our Red Lake project."

Solstice Gold noted that New Frontier is about 20 kilometres (km) northwest of its Red Lake Extension (RLX) project, which is permitted and funded for 5,000 metres of Phase 1 drilling that is expected to begin in early June 2022.

A systematic exploration program of mapping, soil sampling and airborne magnetic and electromagnetic surveys has been carried out at RLX, according to the company.

It added that RLX hosts about 16 km of underexplored Red Lake geology and structure that has not benefited from the application of modern exploration methods or the application of new geological models including the recognition of regional deep-tapping structural architecture.

Solstice Gold said it expects to provide ongoing updates on its drill targeting in the coming weeks.

As well, the company announced the appointment of Pablo McDonald, a mining professional with over 10 years of experience on a diverse range of projects, as its exploration manager.

Solstice Gold controls a 180 square kilometre (km2) land position located on the northwestern extensions of the prolific Red Lake Gold Camp in Ontario. As well, the company’s newly-formed 322 km2 Atikokan Gold Project is about 23 km from the Hammond Reef Gold Project owned by Agnico Eagle Mines Limited and is fully funded for a robust field program in 2022. And its district-scale Qaiqtuq Gold Project, which is located in Nunavut, Canada, is fully permitted with multiple drill-ready targets and is located approximately 7 km from the Meliadine gold deposits owned by Agnico Eagle.
