Great Boulder Resources strikes visible gold in Mulga Bill’s first diamond drill holes

“These holes were planned to target narrow high-grade vein positions so we’re excited to see visible gold, intense alteration and high gold grades within those veins,” says MD.

Great Boulder Resources Ltd (ASX:GBR) has hit high-grade gold In the first diamond drill holes at its Mulga Bill prospect, part of the Side Well Gold Project in Western Australia.

The explorer has received initial priority assays from partial sections in the first three of eight diamond holes drilled at Mulga Bill.

Highlights include:

  • 3.08 metres at 4.57 g/t gold from 141.97 metres, including 0.38 metres at 30.10 g/t from 141.97 metres;
  • 1.7 metres at 6.52 g/t from 167.7 metres, including 0.45 metres at 16.55 g/t from 167.7 metres and 0.5 metres at 6.85 g/t from 168.9 metres at;
  • 1 metre at 38.40 g/t from 129.3 metres, including visible gold; and
  • 0.96 metres at 12.99 g/t from 199 metres, including 0.2 metres at 42 g/t gold from 199 metres.

Visible gold was also noted in some intersections that are awaiting assay.

Looking ahead, Great Boulder expects to release further diamond drill results in the coming months.

In the meantime, reverse circulation (RC) drilling continues at Mulga Bill, and results from a 3D induced polarisation (IP) survey are expected shortly.

All eyes on visible gold

Great Boulder managing director Andrew Paterson said: “These holes were planned to target narrow high-grade vein positions so we’re excited to see visible gold, intense alteration and high gold grades within those veins.

“The diamond program has been very important in providing more structural data, particularly the orientations of these vein sets.

“We are now looking forward to receiving the rest of the assays.

“Meanwhile, the RC program is continuing smoothly and we’re busy recruiting exploration personnel to start accelerating our field program at Mulga Bill.”

Next steps

After a temporary delay to the diamond program in late March due to wet weather, GBR’s rig returned to site to complete one of the holes in mid-April.

RC drilling continues along the Mulga Bill corridor, and the aircore drill rig is expected back on site in mid-May for infill and extensional drilling on various targets within the Side Well project.

The 3D IP survey at Mulga Bill has now been completed, with results to be announced as soon as data processing and interpretation are finished.
