Zeotech secures cleantech innovation partnership with Curtin University

The company, which leverages proprietary technology for the low-cost production of materials such as zeolites, aims to address sustainability challenges.

Zeotech Ltd (ASX:ZEO) has secured a partnership with the successful Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Processing Trailblazer Program, led by Curtin University.

The program will be used to accelerate the commercialisation of the company’s cleantech innovation for lithium process by-product, in conjunction with the University of Queensland (UQ) and Covalent Lithium Pty Ltd.

The Trailblazer University Program was announced in November last year and includes Federal Government funding of $242.7 million for select universities to boost research and development.

Progressing proprietary cleantech innovation

The company’s objective with the successful proposal is to progress the proprietary cleantech innovation for lithium process by-product from its current pilot plant phase through to commissioning and factory acceptance of a large-scale commercial demonstration plant, with technology readiness-level milestones set at each stage of development.

The project’s budget is $10.4 million, comprising a contribution from UQ together with cash, infrastructure, and in-kind contributions from project partners.

Managing director of Zeotech Peter Zardo said: “The Trailblazer recognises the importance of managing all aspects of critical mineral processing and validates the commercial potential of Zeotech’s proprietary technology and the funding secured sets a clear path to commercialisation.”

About Zeotech

Zeotech is working to build a future-focused company, leveraging proprietary technology for the low-cost production of advanced materials such as zeolites to deliver solutions aimed at addressing sustainability challenges.

Zeolites are naturally occurring, absorbent particles that posses a sponge-like framework. Their tiny pores make them excellent filters which can absorb certain molecules like dust or dirt, making them efficient filters for waste and by-products in manufacturing.

Zeotech aims to become Australia’s first manufacturer of zeolites and holds novel and proprietary mineral processing technologies, developed by the University of Queensland, for the manufacture of zeolites.
