MGC Pharmaceuticals Ltd (LSE:MXC, OTC:MGCLF, ASX:MXC) said it was granted a patent for its investigational medical product.
CimetrA is a plant-based drug containing curcumin and Boswellia and has been developed to treat acute and chronic inflammation caused by flu and viral diseases such as Covid.
MGC is also working with Graft Polymers to use the latter’s nano-delivery system to more effectively get the therapeutic payload to where it’s needed in higher concentrations.
The patent itself provides commercial protection over the intellectual property associated with CimetrA's formation and manufacturing process for 20 years.
Roby Zomer, MGC managing director and co-founder, called the patent decision a ‘key milestone’.
“The grant of the patent is a further step forward for MGC Pharma in its strategy to develop a range of proprietary products, and become a wholly bio-pharma company with the ability to produce high-grade pharmaceutical products to treat the symptoms of some of the most debilitating conditions," he added.
