Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM) has intersected broad, high-grade gold in both shallow and deep drill holes at the Crusader-Templar prospect, part of the Wallbrook Gold Project in WA.
The precious metals explorer received assays for 43 more reverse circulation (RC) holes, covering 10,003 metres, and 41 of these holes intersected mineralisation exhibiting strike and depth continuity.
What’s more, the link zone results connect the Crusader target with Templar, forming a continuous 1.6-kilometre mineralised corridor across the gold prospect.
Looking out, Nexus has completed initial RC programs at the Solomon and Branches prospects. Results are pending, while a regional gravity survey is now complete.
Results “continue to impress”
Commenting on the findings to date, Nexus managing director Andy Tudor said: “The drill results continue to impress, with broad high-grade zones of mineralisation being returned.
“The positive link zone drill results allow us to confidently confirm the joining of the Crusader and Templar prospects into a single 1.6-kilometre mineralised corridor.
“With the five drill rigs continuing to operate on-site as planned, we are now well into the 6,000-metre diamond drill program and the follow-up 40,000-metre RC program at Crusader-Templar.
“The strength of these results continues to build our confidence in the potential for the Crusader-Templar prospect to evolve into a very large mineralised system.”
What’s under the surface?
Recent drilling at Crusader-Templar uncovered broad, high-grade mineralisation across the property, including:
- Near-surface to under 100-metre oxide levels, as seen in:
- 5 metres at 4.0 g/t gold within 43 metres at 1.20 g/t from 20 metres; and
- 7 metres at 3.40 g/t within 20 metres at 1.27 g/t from 28 metres.
- Transition levels at roughly 100 metres, as seen in:
- 9 metres at 5.48 g/t and 2 metres at 4.55 g/t within 41 metres at 1.99 g/t from 92 metres; and
- 11 metres at 3.24 g/t within 30 metres at 1.76 g/t from 97 metres.
- Deeper primary levels beyond 200 metres deep, as seen in:
- 4 metres at 16.14 g/t within 9 metres at 7.32 g/t from 203 meters; and
- 7 metres at 4.13 g/t within 12 metres at 2.90 g/t from 245 metres.
Moving ahead, Nexus says it’s poised to undertake further infill and extensional drilling to define and extend the evolving 1.6-kilometre mineralised corridor.
Regional exploration
So far, Nexus has completed initial RC drilling at two of its regional exploration targets: the Solomon and Branches prospects. These prospects were identified by regional gravity and magnetic surveys.
At Solomon, Nexus drilled three broad-spaced RC lines (comprising 17 RC drill holes for 3,812 metres), testing for the northern extension of the mineralised corridor roughly 800 metres north of Crusader-Templar.
Promisingly, the holes intersected similar host rocks and alteration style as observed in the Crusader-Templar mineralised corridor.
Meanwhile, over at Branches, Nexus completed a 19-hole, 4,094-metre RC drill program.
The Branches prospect is a further 2 kilometres north of Solomon, with historical drilling results including 25 metres at 2.86 g/t gold from 43 metres.
Nexus also completed around half of a regional gravity survey, which will concentrate on some 95 square kilometres in the central project area.
The survey will cover the same area that had a ground magnetic survey completed by Nexus in 2021 in a bid to identify gravity low corridors coincident with the existing ground magnetic anomalies, providing further regional targets for drill testing.
