Galileo Mining gets RC drill bit spinning at Norseman’s sulphide targets

Galileo expects to provide another update with geological results once drilling wraps up, while lab assays are due around May or June this year.

Galileo Mining Ltd (ASX:GAL) has kickstarted reverse circulation drilling at high-priority sulphide targets across its Norseman Project in WA.

The explorer has embarked on a 1,600-metre program that’s expected to run for a fortnight, testing palladium-nickel targets to follow up previous strong sulphide results.

These included:

  • 27 metres at 0.58 g/t palladium, 0.12 g/t platinum, 0.18% nickel and 0.13% copper from 123 metres, including 3 metres at 1.1 g/t palladium, 0.19 g/t platinum, 0.26% nickel and 0.23% copper; and
  • 24 metres at 0.51 g/t palladium, 0.08 g/t platinum, 0.15 % nickel and 0.10% copper from 132 metres.

In addition, another twin drill hole is planned to follow up on past aircore drilling, which intersected massive sulphide at the bottom of the hole, measuring 1-metre at 0.24% nickel, 0.35% copper, 0.04% cobalt and 0.25 g/t palladium from 60 metres.

Galileo expects to provide another update with geological results once drilling wraps up, while lab assays are due around May or June this year.

Testing “outstanding prospects”

Galileo managing director Brad Underwood said of the program: “We are excited to be drilling two prospects where fertile sulphides have already been intersected.

“At the Mt Thirsty prospect, we have a well-developed target where sulphides have accumulated above a sedimentary marker unit.

“The sulphides contain palladium, nickel and copper, and the grades appear to be increasing towards the eastern target zone.

“At the Jimberlana prospect, we have multiple geochemical and geophysical targets in addition to a unit of massive sulphide intersected in aircore drilling.

“The aircore rig did not drill through the sulphide and so we will take the opportunity to use the bigger RC rig to follow up with a deeper twinned drill hole.

“The coveted, high-value nature of palladium and nickel sulphides means that the outcome of this program could be very significant for Galileo.

“We look forward to drill testing these outstanding prospects and updating the market with results as they become available.“
