Cake Box sees 2002 profits in line as revenues jump 50%

The specialist retailer of fresh cream cakes said stores and online channels have continued to perform well

Cake Box Holdings PLC (AIM:CBOX) said it expects adjusted profits for 2022 to be in line with expectations as revenues surged 50% year-on-year.

The specialist retailer of fresh cream cakes added stores and online channels have continued to perform well in the second half.

And franchisee online sales soared 41% during the year and around 27% on a ten-month basis, the company said in a trading update,

In the ten months to March 31, 2022, revenues are expected to have grown around 32%.

The company expects franchisee sales to have increased 12% on a like-for-like basis excluding the March 2020 lockdown.

Reporting an "exceptional year for store openings", the group opened 11 franchise stores in the second half, bringing the total number of stores opened to 31 in the financial year 2022.

This compared to the 24 stores opened in the prior period.

"Our strategy to reach customers across the UK is starting to deliver," said Sukh Chamdal, co-founder and chief executive.

"With a strengthened team and investment in our operations and processes, we have all the right ingredients to continue to sustainably grow the Cake Box customer base, brand and family."

The stock was up 7.01% at 206.00p in early trades.
