Gold Resource Corporation makes organization changes to further derisk its Back Forty project in Michigan

Patrick Frenette has been appointed as vice president of technical services at Gold Resource to ensure delivery of the project’s optimized feasibility study, while industry veteran Steve Donohue will oversee the permitting process

Gold Resource Corporation (NYSE-A:GORO, ETR:GIH) has announced the addition of mining industry veterans Patrick Frenette and Steve Donohue to the company's management team.

According to the Denver-based gold and silver producer and explorer, Frenette has been hired as vice president of technical services at Gold Resource to ensure delivery of the Back Forty project optimized feasibility study.

In the meantime, Donohue from Foth Infrastructure & Environmental LLC has been appointed as vice president of Environmental and Regulatory Affairs (Michigan) to oversee the Back Forty project permitting process.

In a statement, Gold Resource CEO Allen Palmiere said: "Advancing the Back Forty project in Michigan is a key priority for the company. Key measures of success for the year will be delivering an environmentally friendly design in the optimized feasibility study and reflecting that design in the permit applications.”

“With the addition of Patrick and Steve to the management team, I feel strongly we have significantly increased the likelihood of success for the project," he added.

Frenette is a mining engineer with over 18 years of experience in both underground and open pit mines. He holds a Master's degree in rock mechanics and an MBA. Over his career, Frenette has held positions as a rock mechanics engineer, senior planning engineer, senior project engineer and project superintendent.

As a consultant, Frenette has contributed to many studies, both at the preliminary economic assessment and feasibility study stages. Most recently, he served as director of operational support for Osisko Development and has been involved with the Back Forty project since March 2021.

Meanwhile, Donohue is a licensed professional hydrologist with over 30 years of experience permitting complex metallic mining projects. Donohue has led project teams on high-profile projects integrating feasibility studies, environmental permitting, mine closure, compliance, and environmental impact analyses.

According to Gold Resource, Donohue is an asset as he has advanced mine development, regulatory, and permitting strategies that incorporate the technical, legal, and public interest needs of a project. He is has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for the American Mining & Exploration Association and Wisconsin Examining Board of Professional Geologists, Hydrologists, and Soil Scientists.

Donohue remains a member of Foth and for an agreed period will be devoting the majority of his efforts to Gold Resource’s Back Forty project, said the company.

Gold Resource also has its operations centered on the Don David Gold Mine in Oaxaca, Mexico.
