National Grid gets lift from inflation; raises guidance

National Grid now expects better-than-expected underlying operating profit in its UK Electricity Transmission and Electricity Distribution thanks to inflation

National Grid PLC (LSE:NG.) said the accelerating inflation rate boosted the underlying operating profit of its UK Electricity Transmission and Electricity Distribution business units

The group said underlying operating profit from these units will be ahead of previous guidance.

Its New England, New York, and National Grid Ventures (NGV and Other) business units have been performing in line with guidance given at the time of the electricity grid operator’s half-year results in November.

Full-year underlying earnings per share for the group are expected to be modestly above previous guidance.
