Silverton Metals hits high-grade silver at its Peñasco Quemado project in Mexico

The results have extended the silver mineralization nearly 400m northwest of the nearest hole, where it remains open along strike and at depth

Silverton Metals Corp (TSX-V:SVTN, OTCQB:SVTNF) has announced step-out reverse circular drill results from two separate areas of its 100% owned Peñasco Quemado project in Mexico, which included 438 grams per tonne (g/t) silver and 0.6% copper over 0.95 meters (m) within a broader zone of 11.3m averaging 54.5 g/t silver at the Fortuna target.

A total of 2,105m were drilled in nine holes, according to the company.

Silverton Metals said the results have extended the silver mineralization nearly 400m northwest of the nearest hole, where it remains open along strike and at depth.

“The continuation of the mineralization offers potential to expand the historic resource,” Silverton Metals CEO John Theobald said in a statement.

“I am also encouraged by the intersections of silver and copper mineralization on the Fortuna target, which is one of several geophysical anomalies identified across the property,” Theobald added.

The company will continue to explore the property to identify additional drilling targets, Silverton Metals said, adding that its geologists are evaluating the potential for updating the historic 9.6 million ounce silver resource with the view to commissioning a current resource estimate.

As well, the company revealed that it has compiled data of 73 holes drilled by Silvermex in 2008 that were not incorporated into the historical resource estimate from 2006.

It added that the holes are in its majority, infill holes within or in close proximity to the historical resource estimate.

Silverton Metals is focused on the exploration and development of quality silver projects. The company holds a 100% interest in three significant silver assets in Mexico – Pluton in Durango, Peñasco Quemado in Sonora and La Frazada in Nayarit.
