Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR) has received the final regulatory approval for 1,700 metres of diamond drilling exploration at its Sunnyside prospect, part of the greater Halls Peak Project in northern New South Wales.
The company had identified multiple targets at Sunnyside which will be tested to a maximum depth of 700 metres, aiming to expand the potential at Halls Creek and demonstrate the continuity of mineralisation between Gibsons and Sunnyside prospects.
Moving forward, CRR will begin drilling at Sunnyside once drilling is completed at its Gibsons prospect which is 1.5 kilometres away.
“Major step in exploration”
CRR managing director Alex Biggs said: “We are excited that Resources Regulator approval has been received for Sunnyside drilling.
“Being able to drill the previously untested geophysical anomalies seen at Sunnyside represents a major step in our exploration program at Halls Peak.
“The Sunnyside prospect is approximately 1.5km from the Gibsons prospect so represents a clear expansion of the resource potential that exists at Halls Peak.”
Sunnyside drilling strategy
CRR has identified new geophysical targets at Sunnyside through reinterpretation and analysis of data collected in a 2012 Versatile Time Domain Electromagnetic (VTEM) survey.
All drilling will be diamond core, JORC QAQC compliant and act as infrastructure to allow for downhole electromagnetic surveying and imaging of the mineralised zones.
Further, this surveying will then aid in refining the further drill targets for the next stage of drilling.
CRR believes that this staged approach to exploration will enable more accurate, lower risk, target development and more efficient placement of future holes and further exploration of the down dip and down plunge extensions to known mineralisation.
Furthermore, large scale base metals SEDEX type system potential is being explored across Halls Peak tenements.
Drilling at Gibsons
CRR’s drilling at the Gibsons Prospect confirmed copper and deep disseminated sulphide mineralisation early last week.
Assays received from Hole 11A confirmed copper mineralisation across 7.63 metres (42.04-49.67 metres) downhole at 1.15% copper (Cu), 0.23% zinc (Zn), 0.01% lead (Pb), 73.15g/t silver (Ag) and 0.01g/t gold (Au).
CRR has planned 1,200 metres of additional drilling to test the extent of the copper mineralisation seen in Hole 11A.
Holes have also been designed to test the depth and extent of geophysical anomalies consistent with the current exploration strategy at Halls Peak.
Moving forward, CRR has completed 16 drill holes at Gibsons, with five remaining before relocating to Sunnyside.
