St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has continued to deliver positive nickel-copper results from its extension and infill drill program at the Strickland's deposit within the flagship high-grade Mt Alexander Project in the Northern Goldfields.
The company’s second expansion drill hole intersected mineralisation from 102.7 metres to 106.3 metres downhole, confirming further mineralisation about 35 metres to the west of the existing mineralised envelope for the Stricklands Deposit.
Looking ahead, the mineralisation remains open in the down-dip direction with further extension drilling planned at the deposit.

St George chairman John Prineas said: “The expansion drill program is designed to extend the footprint of the four shallow, high-grade discoveries in the Cathedrals Belt – Stricklands, Cathedrals, Investigators and Radar.
“MAD210 has again shown that this near-surface mineralisation remains open, and that extensional drilling can increase the volume of mineralisation to be considered for inclusion in a potential mineral resource.
“The ongoing results are very encouraging, and we look forward to continuing the diamond and reverse circulation expansion drill programme.”
Continues to deliver
St George’s drill hole MAD210 was completed to a downhole depth of 162.4 metres and is 35 metres to the west of the mineralised envelope for the Stricklands.
MAD210 intersected the same mineralised intrusive unit up-dip to MAD209 – confirming the extension of the interpreted mineralised intrusive at Stricklands.
The success of MAD209 and MAD210 confirms that mineralisation at Stricklands continues and remains open to the west, north and north-west.
Remains open
The widest intersection at Stricklands to date is in drill hole MAD71 which intersected thick, high-grade nickel-copper sulphides from approximately 30 metres below surface and returned assays of:
- 17.45 metres at 3.01% nickel, 1.31% copper, 0.13% cobalt and 1.68g/t total PGEs from 37.45 metres; including
- 5.3 metres at 4.39% nickel, 1.45% copper, 0.21% cobalt and 2.09g/t total PGEs from 39.3 metres.
Ongoing drilling at Stricklands has confirmed that the host intrusive structure dips to the north-west at approximately 40 degrees with additional significant mineralisation identified along the structure and down-plunge from MAD71.
Forward plan
St George’s latest results in MAD209 and MAD210 are confirmation that the intrusive hosted mineralisation at Stricklands has strong potential to continue further at depth.
Additional reverse circulation (RC) drilling is planned at Stricklands to further test the extent of the known high-grade mineralisation.
Subsequently, the RC drilling is expected to begin this quarter which will also include extension and infill drilling at the other shallow deposits along the Cathedrals Belt.
Drilling is also planned for the June and September quarters for the initial drill testing of the large, conceptual targets recently generated at the project.
Following completion of MAD210, the diamond rig has mobilised to Kalgoorlie for scheduled maintenance.
