Sipa Resources Ltd (ASX:SRI) has received results from a broad-spaced (400-metre by 400-metre) soil, rock chip and lag sampling program from 2021 over a portion of its 100% owned Warralong Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
Sipa is focused on discovering gold and base metal deposits, primarily in WA.
Results from the company's extensive surface sampling program, undertaken in quarter four last year, are being analysed, but have already highlighted several key target areas for follow up work.
The company planned the sampling program to validate and refine existing targets, while identifying future drill test targets.
An external review of remote sensing information from Sentinel-2 spectral data shows that a number of these anomalies coincide with the spectral responses which are typical of nearby gold and lithium deposits.
Specific areas of focus come to light
“While we await the remaining assays from our recent Skeleton Rocks drilling, we have turned our attention to Warralong. The surface sampling results and spectral data have given us some specific areas to focus on in our extensive ground holding, much of which has never previously been mapped or sampled, and our field crew is currently on site collecting infill samples over these key areas,” Sipa managing director Pip Darvall said.
Sipa has collected more than 1,000 soil, rock chip and lag samples with the results highlighting key target areas for follow up, typically coinciding with major structural breaks observable in Sipa’s detailed magnetic imagery (see below).
A helicopter-supported field trip has also validated the results and confirmed proposed ground access routes for future work.
Gaining ground
Sipa is looking to expand its work at Warralong and is currently waiting for a grant that will allow it to start work on tenement application, E45/5675.
This tenement lies over several structural and lithological features that supported the decision to peg the ground in early 2020.

While shown as granites and gneisses on regional Geological Survey of Western Australia maps, Sipa’s work indicates that the tenement area has more prospective geology with enhanced potential for mineralisation, including:
- A prominent gravity feature;
- Outcropping mafic and ultramafic rocks; and
- Complex magnetics.
The grant will enable Sipa to move ahead with the necessary approvals to drill test current targets.
