Recce Pharmaceuticals granted anti-viral patent in Hong Kong for RECCE Anti-Infectives

Recce Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:RCE, OTC:RECEF) has been granted an antiviral Patent Family 3 titled “Anti-Virus Agent and Method for Treatment of Viral Infection” by the Hong Kong special administrative region, furthering marketing, and manufacturing monopolies for its RECCE® suite of anti-infectives until February 2037.

The company’s anti-infective pipeline includes three patented, broad-spectrum, synthetic polymer anti-infectives: RECCE® 327 as intravenous and topical therapy, RECCE® 435 as an orally administered therapy for bacterial infections, and RECCE® 529 for viral infections

The intellectual property department of Hong Kong has granted claims relating to RECCE® 327 (R327) and anti-viral formulation RECCE® 529 (R529), most notably:

  • Composition/method of manufacture of RECCE® anti-infectives
  • Use of R327 or R529 for the treatment of viruses having a lipid envelope or coat, examples being SARS-CoV-2 and Coronaviruses, Influenza viruses, HIV, Hepatitis, Ross River and Herpesviruses
  • Administration of R327 or R529 by oral, injection, inhalation, and transdermal dose applications.

Promisingly, the patent will help Recce gain a foothold in the pharmaceutical market of Hong Kong which is valued at US$2.3 billion, with a rising demand for chronic disease treatment.
