Cabral Gold Inc (TSX-V:CBR) has unveiled assays from new surface trenches at the Cuiú Cuiú project in Brazil, which potentially extends the Machichie gold system.
One trench, around 85 metres (m) west of the most westerly drill hole at the east-west trending Machichie main zone, returned two separate intercepts, including 11m at 1.2 grams per ton (g/t) gold at the south end, and 2m at 3.9 g/t gold at the north end.
The trench ran north to south and mineralization remains open at both ends, noted Cabral.
Another trench, completed 50m east of this one, showed three separate gold zones, including 1.3m at a grade of 4.3 g/t gold, and 1.5m at 1.3 g/t gold.
"The significance of these results at Machichie is in their location between the most westerly drill hole at Machichie and earlier trenches excavated a couple of hundred metres further west, which returned 5m @ 8.3 g/t gold," said Alan Carter, Cabral's CEO, in a statement.

"The lateral extent of the Machichie gold system appears to be significantly larger than previously thought. With additional trenching, and drilling about to start in this area, and diamond drilling also in progress at Central, MG and Indio, we anticipate an exciting few months for Cabral's shareholders," Carter added.
Meanwhile, elsewhere at the Cuiú Cuiú project, results are pending on seven diamond-drill holes at the MG deposit and drilling is continuing, said Cabral.
Assays are also pending on ten diamond-drill holes at Central and drilling is continuing.
Reverse circulation (RC) drilling aimed at further defining the extent of the gold-in-oxide blanket material is also in progress, said the company, with results currently pending on 36 RC holes drilled north of Central.
Cabral has a 100% interest in the Cuiú Cuiú gold district located in the Tapajós region, within the state of Pará in northern Brazil. Two gold deposits have so far been defined at Cuiú Cuiú and contain 43-101 compliant Indicated resources of 5.9 million tonnes (Mt) at 0.90 g/t (200,000 ounces) and inferred resources of 19.5Mt at 1.24 g/t (800,000 ounces).
