Sports merchandiser Fanatics says NFL invests $320mln as part of fund raising

The National Football League increases funding in Fanatics as part of $1.5bn raise

Sports merchandising company Fanatics said the US National Footbal League (NFL) was the single biggest investor in its latest round of funding which valued the company at a whopping US$27bn.

The funding round raised US$1.5bn last month and saw Fanatics' valuation jump 50% ffrom its previous raise last August.

The company said NFL contributed US$320mln.

Other investors included the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA), the National Hockey League, BlackRock and Fidelity, according to CNBC.

Around 10% of the company now belongs to leagues, players' associations, and team owners.

Fanatics predicts it will reach a staggering US$5bn revenue this year up from US$2.2bn in 2017.
