Stellar Resources kicks off Phase 2A drilling at Heemskirk Tin Project in Tasmania

The program "includes a deeper hole planned to test the exciting South Severn geophysical target, which will also pass through the projected southern extension of the Severn resource,” said executive director Gary Fietz.

Stellar Resources Ltd (ASX:SRZ) has set the drills turning in Tasmania for a Phase 2A drilling program at its flagship Heemskirk Tin Project.

The program consists of six inclined diamond drill holes for around 3,100 metres at Severn, the largest of the Heemskirk Project deposits.

Five of the planned holes are aimed at increasing the Severn indicated resource as a precursor to a pre-feasibility study (PFS) on the project.

These five infill holes will target depths of around 280 metres to 380 metres from surface and have an average length of around 450 metres.

The drilling targets areas where thicker and higher-grade tin mineralisation is expected based on the resource model and existing drilling.

Magnetic and conductive target

The sixth hole of around 900 metres in length is planned to test a large magnetic and approximately coincident conductive target to the south of the Severn deposit that was identified in modelling completed last November by Stellar’s geophysical consultants, Mira Geoscience.

This hole also passes through the projected position of the Severn deposit around 100 metres south of the defined resource.

The final hole in the Phase 1 program is at a depth of 398 metres (compared with the 400-metre target end-of-hole depth) and is nearing completion.

Logging is underway with sulphide veining intersected and anomalous tin observed from portable XRF readings. The company expects assay results in mid-May.

The first Phase 2A drill hole is tracking at a depth of 465 metres (with a 440-metre target end-of-hole depth) and is nearing completion. The hole has intersected sulphide veining and logging is yet to commence. Assay results for this hole are expected in late May.

Hopes for increased indicated resource

Executive director Gary Fietz said: “The Phase 2A program at Severn is aimed at increasing the Severn indicated resource in advance of the PFS planned for the Heemskirk Tin Project.

“With two drill rigs currently on site, we should achieve two holes per month and complete the five infill holes by the end of June. Following receipt of all Phase 2A assay results, a resource update for the Severn deposit will be carried out in August/September.

“In addition, the Phase 2A program includes a deeper hole planned to test the exciting South Severn geophysical target, which will also pass through the projected southern extension of the Severn resource.”
